Homemade Acne Treatments – How Aloe Vera Can Help Clear Up Acne

Homemade Acne Treatments

While researching, I came across lots of info and feedback from acne sufferers about how a simple tropical plant like aloe vera can be pretty potent when it comes to clearing acne. Well, my mum is not surprised to hear that of all homemade acne treatments – aloe vera is one of the most effective homemade acne treatments.

And guess what? Of all homemade acne treatments, my mum has this in her garden. Her neighbor has it too!

What more…some of my relatives drink aloe vera juice to supplement their daily diets.

Then can aloe vera gel be used? Yep, I remember very well how aloe vera gel worked great to relieve my eczema irritations during my younger days 🙂

I remember I had awful eczema from about 7 years old to my early teens. My condition began improving from then on until my early twenties – seemed like I outgrown this skin problem. So I guess my skin specialist was right – eczema though can be controlled, has no cure but can be ‘outgrown’.

So my mum and I realized long ago that aloe vera is a great ‘homemade eczema treatment’ – other than it is also one the best homemade acne treatments.

Was anyone also aware one of the best homemade acne treatments is aloe vera?

This may sound odd but nope…many people are not really aware that aloe vera makes one the most effective homemade acne treatments.

Most people use aloe vera gel (the transparent pulp in the centre of the leaf) to relieve cuts, minor burns, scrapes, skin inflammation, etc but not typically for acne and pimples (as topical application). For general health, some people supplement their diet with aloe vera juice.

Aloe Vera and Raw Honey

Mix aloe vera gel or juice with honey. For skin application especially, when it comes to honey, raw honey is the best. If you use gel, press the gel with a fork to like mash it up so it mixes better with the honey. And if you mix juice with honey, make it into a texture that can be applied onto your skin. After washing your face, apply this mixture evenly onto your face using an ice-cream stick. Leave this as it is for 5-10 minutes. Then rinse or wash this off thoroughly – or any residue left on your skin may irritate your skin.

Aloe Vera Gel

Pluck off a leaf. Put this leaf in a bag and put this bag in the refrigerator to cool the leaf or gel. Actually, cooling the gel is optional – if you want to, you can also use this direct. Wash your face clean. Then squeeze the gel from the leaf and apply it over your acne. This actually reduces skin inflammation and irritations to help clear up your acne. This can also reduce the appearance of scars.

Applying aloe vera to whiteheads and blackheads helps control inflammation so that your whiteheads and blackheads will not get worse and turn into pimples.

Remember to wash off the gel after you leave it on your skin for 5-10 minutes. And clean thoroughly.

Aloe Vera Juice

You can buy this from a health food store or maybe a pharmacy. It is best to store aloe vera juice in your refrigerator. As your every day supplement, drink half a cup of this juice. Aloe vera juice also acts as an effective laxative and detoxifier. So drinking this juice daily will get the toxins out from your body. This greatly helps in the acne healing process from within – making this one of the best ‘internal homemade acne treatments’.

Otherwise, you can also apply aloe vera juice onto your skin using a cotton ball as a cleanser. Or you can leave it on clean skin to reduce inflammation. This really helps suppress acne from getting worse, since acne is triggered by skin inflammation.

Then, you can also pour a cup into a warm bath and soak your body in this.

Aloe Vera Products

You can also buy aloe vera soaps, creams, shampoos, moisturizers and such products from pharmacies and health stores. Although many may label all natural, most would have this ingredient mixed with certain medication or chemical substances. And these products can be pretty costly.

So it would be best if you could use the gel straight from the plant, mix this with natural stuff like raw honey, olive oil, chamomile oil, tea tree oil, witch hazel water or lemon juice to get homemade acne treatments, masks and moisturizers.

Aloe Vera – One of the Cheapest Homemade Acne Treatments?

For those who have this plant, it would be best to just snap off a leave or when you need it, cool it in the fridge and use the gel later on. Just using the gel directly from the leaf itself works great and can be mixed with other natural stuff for external use on your skin (your face and body).

In this case, aloe vera becomes one the cheapest (even free) homemade acne treatments you can have.

And for internal general good health and vitality, drink aloe vera juice every day – it is most convenient to buy this though.

So it may also help you to know that acne treatment systems and supplements containing aloe vera would also be a good thing.

Important Note

Yet, as good as aloe vera is as one of the best homemade acne treatments, you need to take some precautions – even more so if you’re pregnant. Before consuming or using aloe vera in anyway, it is best to talk to your doctor. You also need to know if you are allergic to aloe vera.
